6th October, GCDCS Chairman Alan Nicholson attended a quarterly meeting of The Yorkshire and Humber Association of Civic Societies (YHACS) in Wakefield along with other civic societies in our region. YHACS, www.yhacs.org.uk is the regional association of civic societies and assists individual societies through information, support and networking capabilities and is supported by Historic England and part of the national organisation, Civic Voice www.civicvoice.org.uk . GCDCS were also represented at YHACS’ AGM in May when delegates heard about the Canal and River Trust and from this contact, your Programme Secretary is arranging a talk by a representative of this Trust in view of our town's concern about our River Freshney. SM
