YHACS'* Summer 2022 Newsletter has, amongst interesting articles from societies within this region, 2 home-grown articles within its pages.
Page 10 sees Graeme Bartlett’s article Renovating a Traditional Grimsby Smoke House about background to, and progress with, securing Petersen’s building in Grimsby’s Kasbah on the docks estate. As a long-time member of GCDCS and Secretary of Great Grimsby Ice Factory Trust, he is well placed to write such an article.
Following that, on page 11, Branding a Place to Market is an article based around the difficulties many locals have with the term ‘The Kasbah’. Our Secretary, Susan Milsom, presents her thoughts that ‘The Kasbah’ not only defines a physical place but also a time in place – and therefore, separates the lives and experience ‘down dock’ of yesteryear from that of the modern day.
