As a group working on the east coast, Envorment Agnecy have alerted us tochanges to Flood Warning systems currently in place should there be future flood risks.
The 18 flood sirens originally installed after the Environment Agency’s Flood Warning Service launch in 2006, will no longer be in operation from 31 December 2020.
The sirens had an audible range that could only reach 72% of properties at risk, depending on factors like wind direction and double-glazing. Since 2006, advancement in technogy has meant that flood warnings can now be reached by 83% of properties in a more targeted way via phone, text or email..
Environment Agency need people to sign up to the free Flood Warning Service for these warnings by calling 0345 988 1188 or online at www.gov.uk/flood. During November, there will be a social media campaign to alert people to know what to do should there be danger of a flood.

Posters and Guides will be important parts of the campaign to educate about what to do should we be in danger of local flooding. The following material is for Cleethorpes - the Grimsby versions are exactly the same but not replicated here for reasons of space!
